(1) مہینوں کے نام کے ساتھ in دنوں کے نام کے ساتھ اور وقت کیلئے at استعمال ہوتا ہے۔ جیسے in February , on Tuesday , at 6:30 A.M وغیرہ۔ اسی طرح صبح morning اور شام evening سے پہلے in جبکہ noon اور night سے پہلے at لگتا ہے۔جیسے : In the morning , in the evening , at night at noon. (2) جہاں کام شروع ہونے کا دن یا وقت معین کر دیا گیا ہو وہاں since کا استعمال ہوتا ہے۔ جیسے : since 1990 , since last sunday , since 2 a.m. اور جہاں وقت صرف مدت کی شکل میں دیا گیا ہو وہاں پر for لگتا ہے۔ جیسے : for three months , for five years.
